Cartersville Lions invite Hayden Collins to speak about foster care
Hayden Collins attended the June meeting of the Cartersville Lions Club and gave the members an update about recent legislation that has changed the foster care system in the state of Georgia, and how these changes affect children in care.
Hayden also took the opportunity to thank the Lions Club for their response to a distress call some years back. In a foster home for whom the Collinses were serving as a mentor, a child had been placed who was visually challenged. “The state would only cover a very small amount for the specialized glasses that this child needed, and once the word went out to the community, the Cartersville chapter of the Lions Club raised the additional money needed get this child glasses, and they also paid for Braille material for this child in care.” He gave the Lions Club members an update on this child, and again thanked the chapter for their above-and-beyond efforts.
Hayden expressed his appreciation to Lions Club president Fred Carlson – who has also been a foster parent. “Thank you for the meal with the chapter and the opportunity to speak, and for the kind words for my family and our efforts for foster care in Georgia.”
